PETA 25th Anniversary Animals

2004: Daisy

Daisy Before PETA intervened, Daisy was slated to be auctioned off to the highest bidder and become what the Coral Reef Senior High School's Future Farmers of America had originally called her—"Bacon." Luckily, some kind students at the school, who had became attached to the little pig and were desperately trying to raise funds to save her life and send her to a sanctuary, called PETA for help.

We were behind the students all the way—speaking to the school board on their behalf and helping them to find a sanctuary after the students managed to raise enough funds to rescue Daisy and three other animals from the auction at the Miami-Dade County Fair. Instead of being slaughtered, Daisy, Petunia, Tulip, and Mary are enjoying life—splashing in the pool and racing around at Tennessee's Shepherd's Green sanctuary!

PETA continues to work toward passing policies in school districts across the nation that would forbid the raising of animals for slaughter on public school property. Although Daisy escaped the perils of the Future Farmers of America, many are not as fortunate and are violently attacked and slaughtered.
