General Event Information
Where and when is the event taking place?
PETA’s 25th Anniversary Party and Humanitarian Awards Show will take place at world-famous Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, California, on Saturday, September 10, 2005, on the spectacular “New York Street” movie and TV set. Check-in begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner is at 7 p.m., and the awards ceremony and show begin at 8:30 p.m. At 11 p.m., our “after-party” begins with live entertainment, dancing, drinks, and dessert.
How should I dress?
The event is a black-tie affair but will be held outside in the evening air, so light jackets or wraps are recommended.
Are there special event rates available at nearby hotels and for travel?
If you need lodging, we suggest that you make arrangements as soon as possible so that you are able to take full advantage of the discounted rate being offered to gala attendees by the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, located in the heart of Hollywood and very close to Paramount. To make room reservations at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, located at 1755 N. Highland Blvd., please call 1-800-468-3571 (outside the U.S., call 323-856-1200) and ask for the discount with code “PETA Gala.” Rates start at $149 per night (plus tax) and are available for the nights of September 9 and 10.
We are pleased to announce that Continental Airlines will offer discounted rates to PETA’s gala guests. You can book your flight by calling 1-800-468-7022. To receive the special rate, please provide Agreement Code UHS0R2 and Z code ZQEN to the representative assisting you. Or to book online, please visit www.Continental.com and click on the “Programs and Services” tab, click on “Meeting Sales,” click on “Book MeetingWorks Travel,” then enter offer code ZQENUHS0R2 to reserve your flight at the discounted rate.
Are companion animals allowed at the gala?
Unfortunately, Paramount Pictures’ policy excludes animals, other than seeing-eye dogs, on its site. We apologize for any inconvenience that this causes you, and we hope that the enjoyment of the event will make up for the time spent away from your beloved animal companion.
What is required to check in at the event?
State-issued identification, such as a driver’s license, is required to enter Paramount Pictures. Each person checking in at our event must have proper identification. All ticket buyers should also bring their ticket confirmation letters, which serve as proof of purchase. (The ticket confirmation letters will be mailed to guests in August.)
What type of food will be served?
Appetizers, dinner, dessert, and drinks will be provided by some of the best vegan restaurants and food, wine, and beverage purveyors in the world, including Sublime, Dragonfly, Native Foods, Benihana, Real Food Daily, Soy Boy, Whole Foods Market, Astro Burger, El Burrito, Follow Your Heart, Johnny Rockets, Lagunitas Brewing Company, O2 Bar, PlayFood, Raw in Ten, Roberts American Gourmet, Tofurky, AllVegan, Edward & Sons, Fiji Water, Sierra Nevada, and many more.
Can I volunteer to work at the event?
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Vicki Carey, human resources director, at VickiC@fsap.org or 757-962-8416.
Are cameras/camera phones allowed?
Yes, cameras are allowed.
Are there “ins and outs”?
As long as you retain your ticket, you may leave and reenter the event. Check-in begins at 6 p.m. and will continue throughout the evening. To claim your gift bag upon exiting the event, you must submit your ticket.
What is the schedule of events?
At 6 p.m., check-in begins and guests will enjoy a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner is at 7 p.m., and the awards ceremony begins at 8:30 p.m. There will be an after-party at 11 p.m. with live music, dancing, drinks, and dessert.
Will Ingrid Newkirk be there? Can I meet her?
Yes, PETA’s president and cofounder, Ingrid Newkirk, will be present at the gala. We’ll do our best to make sure that she is available to meet all guests, but please understand that it simply may not be logistically possible for Ingrid to personally greet each of the expected 2,000 guests.
Are children/minors allowed at the event?
Yes, children and teenagers are allowed if they are accompanied by an adult.
Tickets
How much do tickets cost and how do I buy them?
General admission tickets are priced at $500 each and are available to purchase online at PETA25.com or by calling 323-644-7388. A few weeks prior to the gala, guests will receive a ticket confirmation letter with detailed instructions regarding check-in procedures and other helpful event information, such as driving directions and parking.
Why are tickets so expensive? Are there “cheap seats”?
Because this is an important fundraising event that supports all of PETA’s programs to help animals, ticket prices start at $500 each, with sponsorhip packages running from $2,000 up to $25,000 for VIP sponsorship. Events of any kind are expensive to hold, which also is a key factor in setting the lowest-cost tickets at $500.
Will tickets be sold at the door?
No, tickets will not be available for purchase at the door. Seats must be reserved ahead of time by purchasing tickets online or by mail or phone.
Are tickets tax-deductible?
By law, $250 per ticket is tax-deductible.
Are tickets refundable?
No, tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
Will tickets sell out?
We expect the event to be sold out, but we cannot predict when that will happen. Ticket sales will officially close upon sell-out or at midnight on September 8, 2005.
